I received the following email the other day, and it reminded me that I needed to post a Very Useful Tools Page (see the sidebar to the right).
The email…

I was watching a little Ben Hur in the evening, and, upon viewing the scene where Christ gives, under the threat of death, the enslaved Charlton Heston, a drink of water, I thought, “What if we all could live like that, without any fear of dying, living without fear of oppression, social norms or peer pressure?” I went down to the river behind the RV and meditated on that awhile.

Kayaked 10 miles down the Androscoggin River yesterday. As fate would have it, I had the river practically to myself.

It was cold and windy this morning (and apparently I’m a wimp) so I didn’t go kayaking. Instead I got some work done at the Mouse & Bean Internet Cafe then headed out into the woods of Bethel on my motorcycle.

Traveling tomorrow, not sure where. Been here a week. Time to leave this area.

Received nine emails of additional work over the last 12 hours for the consulting gig I’m working on. So this just a shot in my “Out My Window” series.

(Excerpt from an upcoming book my free ebook The Implications of the Soul – See the tag SoulBook for all entries).
If you knew, knew you were a soul that lived multiple lives, how would it change you? How would it change your perspective, your values, your day-to-day life as well as your long-term goals?

I can’t tell you how good it feels to be creating again – the photography, the writing, even this blog. In Taoism, it’s said…

After working all morning on my consulting project, I started on my next book, “The Implications of the Soul.”

Before they left, my really cool campground neighbors, the Hubbell’s, asked me what technique I used to get these type of shots…

That’s me in the lower right mini-bus reflection. But the rest of the photo is who I am on the inside. Obviously there is something seriously wrong with me.

I’ll be staying in Shelburne, VT (just south of Burlington) through next weekend. This will give me time to get some work done, write, take pictures, and explore the area. I was going to blog something about the Soul, Belief Systems, or something spiritual and longwinded, but just as I got back from shooting the above picture (on Lake Champlain), I received this email…

Heading to Burlington, Vermont today. I need to find a place where the tourists are not. I’d like to make camp for at least a week so that I can put in some consulting hours and start writing a new book tentatively titled “The Implications of the Soul.” In the mean time, here are more shots of Letchworth State Park…

This is a beautiful state park in western New York state. Unfortunately, I have to leave Friday because they are booked up.

I arrived yesterday afternoon. I have campers to my left, campers to my right, campers in front and campers behind me. Don’t think I’ll be staying long.

Yesterday on my way up to see my high school buddy Doug, he mentioned that I should stop in Andersonville – the Civil War prison camp – where one Captain Henry Wirz was tried and hanged for war crimes. I was curious to see if he was a relative.

Waves, barely six inches high, rolled in upon the sugary white sand as I sat waiting for the light. A family with three dogs played in the surf a hundred yards down the beach, the dogs happily running back and forth though the water. A couple walk by, and as usual, the tripod catches their attention. Even though I’m obviously not taking their picture, their manner takes on an air of self-consciousness. A young woman strolls by, smiles and shoots me the peace sign. I wave back.
Later, as I’m putting away my equipment another woman approaches me and asks me about my camera. She’s confused on which camera to buy, and is rattling off a bunch of specs. She says she doesn’t want to do a lot of digital processing, wants to get it right straight out of the camera. She says that to her, the purity of the process is the whole point. I shake my head and say that for me, the whole point of taking a picture is to take a great picture. I forget to give her my card.
I climb on my bike and ride back through the darkness.

Some more shots from Oscar Scherer. These are from Picnic Area #1 – what is now called “South Creek Picnic Area”…

This is a shot of my campsite at Oscar Scherer State Park on the west coast of Florida. I lived here as a child for about 2 and a half years. Lots of adventures and great memories. More than any other place I’ve lived, I have always felt this was “home.” Seemed like a good place to stop on my way north.

Shot the Sawgrass overpass this morning. The big field in the foreground is where locals fly their model airplanes.

This is a shot out of my office window this morning. I’ve converted the back bedroom into a workspace and use the cab over space to sleep in.
