Spent the day down in the Mall area of DC. I was surprised that every exhibit and museum is free. Playing around with B/W. I think that some buildings look a lot better this way – more moody.

On the way to Washington DC, I inadvertently – apparently my GPS doesn’t know how to read a map – drove through Lancaster county, home of many Amish people.

Since I’ve been in Saco, Maine, the days have been very pleasant – cool, but not uncomfortable. The nights, on the other hand, have been very cold. Today it is cold and rainy and I am pretty much locked up inside the RV (a big disadvantage of the motorcycle). I think it’s about time to start heading south. Here are some shots I took on a little road trip to Kennebunkport yesterday.

I finished the first draft of The Implications of the Soul today. Now comes the refining, re-writing, balancing, etc. In the mean time, here are some more shots around Portland, ME…

I was really surprised at how nice Portland is. I had thought it was more of an “industrial” city, but it is a very friendly, clean and well kept city.

Say you were to die right now. Do you have any regrets, any feelings of guilt, any unfinished business? Do you have any addictions, obsessions, or desires that are outside the norm? Are you excessively selfish, selfless, rude or polite? Do you have any relationship problems, anger issues, or covet your neighbors wife? Guess what – you’re coming back.

Sick as a dog yesterday. Either the stomach flu or food poisoning. Laid in bed all day. Today, though, I felt good enough for a little ride, so here are some shots from the main loop road in Acadia National Park.

After getting the repairs done to the RV, which stops ALOT better now, I headed down to a campground near Acadia National Park. Internet access is spotty and slow, but it is beautiful here, and – unlike yesterday – it is supposed to be sunny for the rest of the week. So I think I’ll stay a little while.
Some quicky photos of the tourist town of Bar Harbor…

My life started much like most. I grew up, went to school, joined the military. One day, I had a realization that life wasn’t all I was told it was. I started questioning authority, questioning everything I had been told and taught. I started practicing mediation and soon started catching glimpses of pure consciousness. I started seeking enlightenment in earnest and continued on this path for many years. I document this growth and the realizations that I experienced in detail in my photo-essay, Fading Toward Enlightenment (http://Fade2E.com).

How’s that for a title? Welcome to my life. Just as I was coming up to the Canadian/US border, my brakes started to feel really, really, mushy…

Hello Bonjour! Heading back to the US of A. I am currently in Shediac, New Brunswick. Did you know that both English and French are the official languages here? Every time they want to say something, write something or put a sign up, they have to do it twice. Really. It’s a little weird. Still, I like they way they say “Hello Bonjour.” Here are some more images of Nova Scotia…

I rode the motorcycle about 200 miles today, riding the Cabot Trail Loop in northeastern Nova Scotia. I am so glad I took the bike. You can pull over to places that cars can’t – let alone an RV – and you really feel one with the mountains and cliffs and seashores while riding. I could spend a year photographing this area and I took a lot of shots today. But I’m beat, tired, sore and need to get these dried, splattered bugs off my skin – so I’ll update you tomorrow.

Drove through the remnants of Tropical Storm Hanna yesterday. One thing you don’t want to do is drive through gale force winds in an RV across the highlands of Nova Scotia.
After doing a little motorcycle maintenance, I rode around Baddeck and Middle River to get a lay of the land.

Pretty much worked all day – on the consulting project and The Implications of the Soul (I did sneak out to shoot a couple photos). But while I was working, as I’d observe people peering over at me, wondering who I was and what I was doing, I’d notice how my mind would jump into judgement mode…

Tough day yesterday. Had Canadian customs search my entire RV (I apparently trigger too many “He’s a Terrorist!” flags). Drove hundreds of miles and landed in a campground that is nothing more that a wet, soggy, marshland. I was too tired to move on so I’m staying here until tomorrow.

This lake is about 1/2 mile from where I am boondocked, but getting there required going through very thick woods – woods with no trails. My iPhone came in very handy at keeping me from getting lost…

I am attempting my first boondocking experience – which means I am camped out in the middle of nowhere, no utilities, no lights, no power, no water – except what I have with me…

After working all morning, I went out on the bike to explore Bangor. This little guy landed on my hand, helped me get my camera out of the saddle bags and let me take a picture of him. Here are some more shots in and around Bangor, Maine…

Left Bethel this morning and am staying in the Paul Bunyan Campground outside Bangor, Maine for a few days. This is a shot outside my window. Most everyone is gone now that Labor Day weekend is practically over. Very, very pleasant.
I received an email from my brother the other day, and I wanted to copy my response for you – the lesson being: DON’T even try to get it right the first time. It’s a waste of effort and time…
