Blurry Vision

Patty commented yesterday about my technique on a few of these images. I like this blurry, ethereal look. The last two posts and these three images were created using a tilt-shift lens…

A tilt-shift lens has a couple of knobs on it that shift the front plane of the camera lens either at an angle (tilt) or the up and down (shift). Tilting the lens causes the blurry look you see in these images. Shifting the lens straightens out the vertical lines of tall buildings, etc. I love the look of the tilting effect as it focuses the eye on your subject and blurs the rest of the image, much like you see normally. I also like the mysterious aspect they leave the viewer with – much as I see the mystery of Nature/Spirit/Her.

Now you have to go back into the portrait business. I need the leaf photo to match the other one.
