Oscar Scherer State Park

This is a shot of my campsite at Oscar Scherer State Park on the west coast of Florida. I lived here as a child for about 2 and a half years. Lots of adventures and great memories. More than any other place I’ve lived, I have always felt this was “home.” Seemed like a good place to stop on my way north.

I’m thrilled to see it hasn’t changed too much. Lots of wildlife – I’ve already seen two rabbits (three, I just saw one out my window), some sort of hawk (in a tree next to my campsite), a pileated woodpecker, two cardinals, and of course a gazillion squirrels. Too bad I was only carrying around a wide angle lens on my camera (a telephoto works best for wildlife). Maybe tomorrow.

Here are a couple more shots from the “Lake Osprey” picnic area, though we used to call it “PIcnic Area #2”.
