What I like about Living Simply: Desert dawns.

What I like about Living Simply: Desert dawns.

Don’t you love the way my photos never – well almost never – have anything to do with my posts? Anyway, I was watching President Obama’s speech last night and it got me thinking about Nostradamus…

I’ve been fighting a cold (or maybe the dreaded Valley Fever) the last few days and as Quinzelle mentioned in the last post’s comments, maybe I’m due for some TLC. Here’s someone who could really use some TLC (she’s got some major surgery coming up)…

While wandering the desert, pondering a particularly perplexing problem in my primary project, I perceived this pyramidical … rock, peeking from the ground. It seemed to pull to me so I picked it up and pocketed it.
A peculiar pea-green rock. Prophetic? Precious? Poisonous? Perhaps – but probably not.

I’m boondocking again while I work on my latest project. This time I actually have a few neighbors – some who have been camped here for as long a four months! Now it won’t be such a concern to leave the RV alone while I go out exploring.
The photo above was taken at my last camp (Lake Pleasant, AZ).

I want you to lie to yourself today. Ironically, with this lie, I expect you’ll experience life lived True…

I have been working. Working and working and working and it has felt good. It has felt right.
Living this life – the life of a solitary nomad – requires sacrificing much, but the rewards… I could have never imagined the rewards.
Solitude awakens creativity. She awakens passions. She reminds you of your life’s purpose and motivates you to pursue it.
The nomad lifestyle simplifies you. The lack of room, the transitory nature – it clarifies what is important. The lifestyle keeps you honest and whole and true.
It’s not a life for most, but for those to whom She calls – listen. Listen to Her urgings, to Her siren’s song. All sirens sit on deadly rocks, but to those who can put aside their fears – who can keep their heads when the doubts arise – those are the ones who will find their way around the dangers. Those are the ones who will find the rewards hidden in the mists.

In The Power of Less – The Fine Art of Limiting Yourself to the Essential one of the things Leo Babauta talks about is that if you want to create new habits in your life, the trick is to only attempt one at a time and only one a month. Here are the three new habits that I’ve brought into my life in the last three months. All with very little effort…

I’ve been feeling the need to be near water. Since I had to move my rig to get my propane tank refilled, I used the opportunity to return to Lake Pleasant.
Below are a couple of nice emails I’ve received in the last few days. Used with permission…

I’ve made my decision on a project to work on. I’ll wait until it’s farther along before talking about it, but I’m excited. Feels good.
I’m really enjoying this boondocking thing. About the only negative is when you go into town and wonder that when you get back if any of your stuff will still be there, but that’s a lesson in itself.
