Lost
April 23rd, 2009 by Wayne (Wirs)
I am John Locke but I act like Jack Shepard. Jack’s the rational guy. John’s the man of faith…
I’m trying, Ringo, I’m trying real hard to be the Shepherd (“Pulp Fiction”). Ironically, I AM Jack Shepherd – the logical guy – but I WANT to be the man of Faith – John Locke. Each hero wants to save their charges, but each takes a vastly different tact. If you’ve never seen “Lost” then I implore you to watch the latest episode of LOST, then rent/buy the whole series (and send it to me as I really dig this series).
Each character represents an aspect of humanity:
- John Locke – FAITH. The greater good no matter what RATIONALITY says
- Jack Shepherd – RATIONALITY. The EXPLAINING regardless of the MIRACLES
- Kate – FEMININE stillness/power balancing MASCULINE action/fear
- Sawyer – SELFISH (not/and SELFLESS) compassion
- Sun – YIN sacrificing for YANG
- Jin – YANG sacrificing for YIN
- Hurly – Pure INDULGENCE living life to the fullest – yet understanding the harmony of LIFE
- Sahid – SACRIFICE for the greater GOOD
- Ben – MANIPULATION for the greater GOOD
There are many other characters, each representing an aspect of human nature. Watch it, then watch it again from a broader perspective. Each character represents a part of our humanity. Most people identify with ONE character. The wise person identifies with ALL.
I’m not there yet -The truth is:
“I’m trying, Ringo, I’m trying real hard to be John Locke.” … (more)

Your entry today confirmed my morning reading:
“ The next message you need is always right where you are”
Ram Dass
Synchronizing movement of the body and the breath in all we do can lead us to the depth of our being.. lost in the space-in the moment of being- connected we become All and All become our Self..
The reading at the end of class after an 11min meditation of Clearing past issues were;
Acknowledge, Your connection, Your one-ness with the earth,
Animals, trees, flowers and the Universe, with other humans, there is no
Separate “I” all comes from one source. Look closely as if you look into a
Mirror, don’t judge or label, let a silence arise a sense of wonder, its essence
Silently communicates itself to you, and reflects your own essence back to you.
Just see, just be, no need to judge or label…
Be still, Go slow, Look, Be
By the way Avatar my favourite !!

Thanks Q. I’m glad someone gets me. I intentionally mix things up a bit to reflect the many often contradictory aspects of Life, “I am John Locke. I am Jack Shepherd…” Sometimes it probably seems like I’m losing it, but – well – maybe I am

Well nothing wrong with being lost .. the words of Mike Rowland & Michael Maloney From Angels to Lovers.. beautiful poetry always inspire me when
feeling a bit fuzzy..;)
..”Why, Why not be lost, be crazed
Be lost, be plundered
But be One..”
PS. Doug love your sense of humour!

love this post; LOST is my absolute favorite for many reasons that you site (love your comments about the different aspects of humanity — yes!). I keep telling people it is all about Free Will vs Destiny, and so much more.
I’m also glad you are enjoying our lovely state of CA, where I was born and raised this time around. ;>
Happy trails,
Kimberely
