Oneness

Since arriving on this mountain, I have spent a lot of time meditating, seeing and clearing the ego mind. Today something magical happened…

My main focus has been “seeing” any blockages and resistance come up. Seeing my story – the story of Wayne Wirs – as just a series of memories and thoughts. Since the “Frog Meditation” last week, thoughts have been my main focus. I can almost see them as physical blockages to the natural flow of Spirit through me. I see them as my ego resisting this natural flow, blocking me from recognizing my true nature – Spirit. Obviously this is your true nature too, whether you are aware of it or not.

Last night I was contemplating this, watching the thoughts of “myself” get in the way of my feeling of Oneness. This morning, I go to get online to check my email and the news (as is my normal routine), but for some reason my Sprint card wouldn’t connect. So, with this unusual disruption, I grabbed a few spiritual books (Krishnamurti and Washburn), and went out back to my clearing (no deer this morning) to do some reading.

About a half hour later, feeling very one with the woods surrounding me, three or four birds (above) swooped down from the trees. One landed on the foot bar of the chair I was sitting in, another on my little wood table next to me. Seconds later, the one at my feet (I was sitting cross legged so my toes hung over the edge of the seat of the chair), started nibbling on my toes! Not in a painful way, more in a playful way, the way a dog will nibble at you when you play with it. Now these are wild birds and this area is not frequented by people (the birds weren’t looking for handouts – as I have seen them around here often and they’ve always been naturally skittish).

I have never had that happen before. My only guess is that animals, and I have noticed this, seem to “sense” whether you are human or not, rather than using just their vision. Practicing the “oneness” meditation apparently made me somewhat invisible to them, or at least, not a threat. It was very cool.

Wow what a gift of nature! Reading at the moment The Ayur Veda Handbook by Lisa Formsdorf and amazingly have been working for the past week with the Gayatri Mantra when meditating, its well known to be a good cleanser for the mind and releases us from repetitive and useless thinking. Also strenghtening the imune system – the sanskrit of this mantra is ..

    Aum bhur bhuva swaha
    Tat savitur varenyam
    Bhargo devasya dhimahi
    Dhio yo nah prachodayat

    in translation

We address the Consciousness that is omnipresent,
That is like the splendour of the sun.
    We meditate upon this Consciousness
And appeal to this Consciousness to remove
our ignorance by improving our intellect.

Powerful mantra, when saying a mantra when we meditate is like plugging into a power source. Maybe your’s and the birds cells vibrated this mutual rythm and intellegence- hence the magnificent contact..
    Beautiful indeed!

bro – go look up “Ladybug” by the Captain & Tennille on your phone. I think you’ll like it. ; ) If it asks which album, it’s from _Come In from the Rain_.
