Enlightenment and the Hot Water Heater

Canopy of Light

Yesterday, my hot water heater stopped working. No spark, no flame, no gas flow. In trying to figure out what was wrong with it, I asked myself, “What happened between now and yesterday when I used it last?”

Unfortunately, a lot happened.

Sunset over Camp

I often get asked if solitude is required to realize enlightenment. On the path of Mystical Oneness, there is only one place where isolation is critical.

Solar Battery Monitor

After more than a week of planning, tinkering, installing, re-installing, re-re-installing, wiring, drilling, bending, aching, and finger-crossing, I am now an official member of the exclusive International Solar Puppy Club.

Special thanks to my brother Jeff for all his help yesterday with the engineering and mounting of the panels on the roof.

Controller, Fuse box, Inverter on Mount Board

Friday, I drove down to Miami and bought two 200 watt solar panels at Sun Electronics.

Saturday, I realized I had measured the roof wrong and the panels wouldn’t fit where I wanted them.

Saturday night I came up with a half-assed way to make them fit.

Sunday morning, She showed me an elegant way to mount the the panels beautifully—which we’ll install when my brother comes up next weekend. (More below the break…)

Forest Road

The other day, one of my students was visiting some relatives in Florida, so I met up with her at a local coffee shop (normally I only interact with the students via Google Plus). Afterwards, she contacted me to say that since our meeting she was feeling a “vibration.” I’ve heard this response from other people (only serious spiritual seekers though) and I told her so.

Here’s what she had to say about it: (below the break)…

Enter Here

It’s incredible people like you with all this bullshit, speaking of oneness and still saying “me,” “my,” “I.” If there is only oneness how can you talk about past lives? It’s all about the money and it’s a shame. – Mario M.

In response to the above email, I wrote this Start Here page. Please let me know if it isn’t clear.

PS: Thanks Mario.

Wall Flowers

I have a slight, four inch long indentation in my skull, just at the hairline above my left eye. It isn’t visible, but you can feel where is seems like the edge of a 2×4 whacked me sometime in the past.

Though I spent far more time in the emergency room than most children, not once was it for a head injury.

Today, I was reading about a study on reincarnation and how often blemishes or birthmarks coincide with people’s past life memories of injuries.

I found that interesting because one of my first past life memories (recalled as I was testing out this mediation (quarter of the way down the page)) was as a Norwegian 15th century ship builder, and being killed when a timber on the bow sprung loose and crushed my skull. The beam smashed me in the head in the identical place as my (current) head dent.

I never made that connection before.

Food for thought.

Serious Mortals

The Blue Door

When living as a Soul—in order to keep from taking the ups and downs of Mortal life so seriously—you need only keep one thing in mind:

Soon, I’ll have forgotten all of this.

“Forgetting it all” may at first seem depressing, but if you truly live it, you will feel a profound relaxing—a mysterious opening—and a newfound appreciation of the Present Moment.
