Portraits of God

Cloud over Heron Lake

HERON LAKE SP, NM—Have you ever wondered why we find beauty in clouds or flowers or lakes or trees? From an evolutionary point of view, where is the benefit in it? Why would that emotion survive in our genes? How does appreciating the glow of sunlight on a mountaintop contribute to the survival of our species?

As a mystic, I believe that the appreciation of Beauty is simply our Soul resonating with our last memory of God Herself—when we were one with Her, but, because of a desire for something more, we were torn from Her. From Fading Toward Enlightenment:

We had been One, but now no more, my weakness—simple desire. By wanting more, we split in two. I, the Ego and She, the World. I apart from She.

Night and Day divided by Dawn. Forever close but never joined. Two mute lovers just out of reach: destined to see. Doomed never to hear. Doomed never to touch.

The feel of Beauty is the feel of love. To the mystic, catching a glimpse of Beauty is like being struck by the memory of a distant soulmate—of a long lost love.

How can you learn to see God? Just learn to see the Beauty in anything.

Every photo I take is a photo of my Lover, my Beloved, my Other Half.

Every photo I take is a portrait of God.

Please help me get published

For my next book, I'll be submitting to traditional publishers. Unfortunately, in a publisher's eyes, the author's platform (number of readers/followers) is just as important as the manuscript itself. You can help in my endeavor to find a publisher by simply using one of the share buttons below to add this blog post to your favorite social networking page and thus sharing it with your friends ("Likes" really don't help that much). I sincerely appreciate your show of support. Thank-you. ---Wayne

  1. Like your thoughts Wayne! But from an ex marine, without your insight(I have a graduate degree) I think about these things too. but I feel anytime the spirit is given a gender its removes us from further from the spirit. A human face is automatical assigned to the spirit which assumes human failure! Hence for me its tuff to live that model.. Peace, rubbertramp.

  2. Thank you very much Wayne and I trust your weekend will be “just right” Happy too.

Oh the Bliss of not having to stumble through the mind fields of which word to use…. ( :
