The Glimpse

Wayne (Wirs) 5/24/2012

Storrie Lake SP, NM—Sitting on my doorstep, dumping Her ideas into my iPad, I catch a glimpse of myself in the glass. I tap the camera icon and snap a photo.

Sometimes, like seeing my reflection in the rearview mirror, I’m taken aback by what I see.

It’s like a shock.

Who the hell is this guy? What is this thing I find myself in?

That chunk of flesh doesn’t feel anything like me.

  1. There are many facets of “outsides not matching insides” that could be explored from this post. I get it Wayne. Completely. But since you are limited by your physical humanity, I must ask -with genuine curiosity- does the contrast of living in both worlds make it a slippery slope? It seems to me that it does. Mettere in guardia? I am interested in your thoughts and look forward to your response. Love and hugZ, always.

  2. I resonate with the initial surprise of what is seen in a mirror. I don’t recognize this face as “me” and forget what others see until a mirror or photo presents itself.
    Thanks for sharing. Blessings!

  3. @Maria: It’s a reaction, not a thought out process. Lived, not philosophized.

    @Rachel: Seems so. 🙂

    @Doug: Bastard. 🙂

    @Debra: Not anymore, at least not like my tough times integrating during the entire year of 2010.

    @Judy: Thanks!
