OUTSIDE MAGDALENA, NM—The last book of the great free-books-for-reviews program is The Carefree Diet.
Though not a particularly spiritual book, I do apply a couple of key techniques that I advocate for spiritual seekers throughout this blog:
- Transcend—don’t try to fix—the battle between the body’s desire for tasty and the mind’s determination to lose weight.
- Understand that you don’t need to control your desires (body/mind), as much as circumvent temptation.
I lost 40 pounds with this diet—and far more importantly—never gained it back (something few diets can claim). I’d still like to lose another 20, but for the last four or five months I’ve been maintaining my current weight (intentionally) until I/She/We are ready again. That’s the beauty of this diet, once you change your way of eating to the “Carefree Way,” you can lose the weight in easy to manage steps, not worry about gaining it back, then continue losing weight when you’re ready.
And I’m serious when I state on The Carefree Diet website that you can eat what you want and lose weight. As an experiment, for the last two weeks I’ve been eating tamales (mmmm, tamales) and candy bars and I’ve actually lost three pounds. Not necessarily the healthiest experiment, but it makes the point that you get to eat what you want on this diet (and I do love tamales).
Anyway, as with both Seeing Clearly and A Simple Explanation For Everything, I’m looking for reviews. So if you enjoy The Carefree Diet, please take a moment and leave a review on Amazon.
Thanks for your help. (And a huge Thank-you! to those who’ve already posted reviews on my other books).
