Why LSD Doesn’t Affect The Enlightened (Much)

I can’t believe I forgot to mention my LSD experiences—or more accurately, the lack thereof—in the book.

  • LSD doesn’t affect me anymore (at most, I get the equivalent of a two-beer buzz).
  • Ram Dass’ guru wasn’t affected by it

Why? Because one common affect of LSD is to cause two normally separate networks of the brain—the networks responsible for the personal and the impersonal—to operate in harmony. “In here” and “out there” merge and the experience of oneness is perceived directly. (Note: I suspect many people experience hallucinations on LSD because this merging causes them to perceive their subconscious (deep “in here”) with the world “out there.”) … Read more…

The Light And the Vastness

The Light And the Vastness

YUMA, AZ

Enlightenment is when the personal and the impersonal unite. When they unite, all boundaries are seen through and we experience a profound sense of Vastness.

For many, this Vastness feels alive. It feels like the source of Everything. It feels vibrant, like some undefinable Potential, vibrating with an irrepressible inner expectation. … Read more…

For the I AM Aspect, things just happen.

For the TaoGod(I) Aspect, there’s a reason and a will.

For I AM, Source is an impartial and uncaring Intelligence.

For TaoGod(I), Source is the Divine Herself.

For I AM, all this is impersonal.

For TaoGod(I), all this is very personal.

From the book (you may want to read this post first): … Read more…

I don’t like to give people something more to identify with, ergo the term, you-whatever-that-is, but sometimes it is useful. Particularly when you are trying to let go of everything you hold onto about your me-story.

The excerpt below is from the book-in-progress, a topic in the I AM chapter. This might be a little beyond many of you, but for a reader of the book, at this point in the narrative, they’ll understand what I’m talking about. … Read more…

I’m always amazed when I see the hand of TaoGod working behind the scenes.

A major quality of the I AM Aspect is to view life like a dream. To see how inconsequential events ultimately are. To recognize the fleetingness of them. To deeply understand that nothing, nothing, can ultimately affect you. … Read more…

In Spiritually Incorrect Enlightenment, Jed McKenna wrote

I look upon Civil War hospitals and Nazi death camps and children’s burn wards with the same eye with which I look upon bursting gardens and starswept nights and laughing babies.

I wonder how he’d “look upon” pliers to his testicles type pain? … Read more…

I wrote the following last night and this morning decided not to post it. Too much unprovable theory. Too much mind. Too much noise.

A few moments ago though, as I was sitting on a rock on the River, She whispered, “Someone needs to hear this.”

So here it is. Please don’t expect me to participate in any discussion of this (too much theory, to much mind, …). Not my thing. The only point that appeals to me is the last line:

You—whatever that is—are beyond this silly world. You are so much more.

Happy Independence! … Read more…

When I’m writing a blog post, the “me” disappears and I become the Post.

When I write computer code, the “me” disappears and I become the Code.

When I watch the horrors on the news, the “me” disappears and I become the Horror.

I suspect the same goes for yourself.

Enlightenment and the Soul—Part I

Today I wrote the following for the book. The reader at this point in the manuscript will be familiar with the Evidence of the Soul and both the Aspects and Tiers of Mystical Oneness. There are at least three other similarities between the experiences of the enlightened state and the experiences of the Soul (unconditional Love, appreciation of Beauty, and access to vast knowledge), but this is as far as I got this morning. … Read more…
