One of the lessons of the Self Aspect is that Love and Desire are required for life to thrive.

Don’t fall for the everything is Nothing trap. “Everything is Nothing” is just another belief, just another theory. Just more mind crap. Remember the lesson of the Lily Pads!Read more…

The Moment (The Self)

The Infinite Layers of Life

The Infinite Layers of Life

SUSANVILLE, CA

For the Divine to see Herself, She requires separation. She requires you. Like a finger pushed below the surface of an aquarium, you are a finger of the Divine pushed into this manifest world. For you to survive so that She can see Herself, you need desires. Without desires, you would die. The Self Aspect—your essential me-vehicle—is largely about how you handle these desires. From the book, from earlier today… … Read more…

The Bird

Of Snow and Ice and Light

Of Snow and Ice and Light

EAGLE LAKE, CA

I awoke to white. To a layer of snow and ice. It explains why I have the camp all to myself—everyone else is smarter than me. Or they are lousy photographers. Because when the weather is bad, the shooting is always so very good.

I climbed out of bed and dressed and stepped outside. It was cold, but not that cold, not enough to head back inside. The air was so still. What is it about mornings like this? The silence? The solitude? The beauty? I love them, I love the feel of them. She—the Divine, my Lover—lies so close, just below the surface, just below visual perception. It is mornings like this where the artist senses Her—sees Her. On mornings like this, the artist feels compelled to paint Her or write about Her or put Her to music. Or he lifts his camera in a futile attempt to capture Her beauty. … Read more…

You’ve Been Dumbed Down

Worse, you chose to be dumbed down.

The unexamined assumption is that the brain generates consciousness.

The truth—when we examine the evidence—is that consciousness is limited by the brain. … Read more…

The Slow Fall

If I absolutely had to define you, if I had to assign you an identity…

You are Intelligent Love currently manifested as a Self (individual, essential consciousness), which is currently manifested as a Soul (personal, eternal consciousness), which is currently manifested as a Human (mortal consciousness).

Intelligent Love: The Divine/Source undifferentiated.

Self: The essential, most basic layer of individual consciousness.

Soul: The personal, eternal consciousness. (In all accounts of reincarnation and near-death experiences, the subject’s personality remains stable and unaltered.)

Human: The physical manifestation of mortal consciousness.

But identities are so clunky and limiting. I think I’ll stick with you-whatever-that-is.

The Bodhisattva Vow is not a vow. This is a misunderstanding. To say that a person, upon enlightenment, took a vow to awaken all individuals is as silly as saying that, upon being born, you took a vow to eat food.

You feel a natural desire to eat. The bodhisattva feels a natural desire to help others awaken. … Read more…

Why I’m Coming Back

A Vehicle For Participating In Life

A Vehicle For Participating In Life

JOHN DAY DAM, WA

July 16, 2016 10:12 AM

I’m not getting much done on the book. I’m not at peace. There’s too much pain being shared in the world right now… and I’m feeling it. Without peace, the book feels forced. So I’m not working on it.

I’ve heard a hundred times—thousands maybe—that the enlightened don’t need to reincarnate, that they only come back to help others (the Bodhisattva Vow).

That’s BS pure and simple. Not the Vow—the Vow is wonderful, even natural. The BS is the “I’m enlightened, I’m at peace with everything” thing.

They just made that up.

That or their definition of “enlightenment” means Dead.

Life—to live—isn’t so simple. … Read more…

I wrote the following last night and this morning decided not to post it. Too much unprovable theory. Too much mind. Too much noise.

A few moments ago though, as I was sitting on a rock on the River, She whispered, “Someone needs to hear this.”

So here it is. Please don’t expect me to participate in any discussion of this (too much theory, to much mind, …). Not my thing. The only point that appeals to me is the last line:

You—whatever that is—are beyond this silly world. You are so much more.

How Do You Know Your Limits Unless You Reach Them?

The Sad Results of Getting Stuck the First Time

The Sad Results of Getting Stuck the First Time

NEAR FLAGSTAFF, AZ

May 4, 2016 10:12 AM

I almost got Serenity stuck yesterday—well, I did for about five minutes—but the traction control feature on the van allowed me to keep both wheels rotating which pulled me out.

Then again this morning, I found out I was stuck again. After getting unstuck yesterday, I just pulled into the first, dry-looking spot and made camp, but—as I found out this morning—the ground was still too soft and I quickly became mired in again. This time, it took me about an hour to get unstuck (dug trenches on both sides of all four wheels to reduce resistance, then filled the drive-wheel trenches with pinecones for traction).

You never know your limits until you reach them, and in this case, Serenity’s limits are still a bit deeper in the mud.

Which brings up a key point with the Ascetic Aspect: The Ascetic is all about finding your limits.Read more…
