Garth came down from his campsite—a campsite I hadn’t known was there 12 hours ago—and asked me how I’d slept and I knew She’d whispered to him in the night. Spiritual people tend to pick up on Her vibe. … Read more…

The Proposal and The Moment

I’ve just finished sending the book proposal (cover letter, synopsis, outline, and sample chapters) off to a few publishers. That’s a big task checked off the list and I’m relieved and I’m happy.

Yesterday, I woke up with the idea to add to the end of each Aspect’s chapter an entry titled, The Moment. Each will be a look at this moment as seen through the eyes of that Aspect.

I wrote one yesterday for the Soul Aspect as soon as I woke up. Later, in the coffee shop I’m sitting in right now, I wrote the one for the Mystic Aspect.

I enjoyed them so much that I might start doing these more often, posting them to this blog.

Since I’m sitting in the same coffee shop (same seat even), here’s what I wrote yesterday for the Mystic Aspect’s The Moment: … Read more…

I have a number of subgoals set up for the book: Outline; Introduction; Soul Chapter; Mystic Chapter; Clean Up; Book Proposal; Send to Publishers/Agents; (Write the rest of the book)…

Today I finished the first draft of the Mystic chapter. This is a turning point in the whole book process: The shift from raw writing to cleaning up and prepping. From here, it’s about getting the manuscript ready for submission to publishers and/or literary agents.

Below is the first draft of the final section of the Mystic Aspect. Standard first-draft disclaimer… … Read more…

I believe the strength of the duplex personality should be considered an indicator of one’s awakening. In 1901, Richard Bucke listed numerous individuals with it, but even a few of today’s teachers seem to exhibit it in various strengths.

Years ago, in Fort Lauderdale, I went to see this odd little man—an unknown author called Eckhart Tolle give a talk. He had just come out with his first book, The Power of Now and there were only about 35 of us who came to hear what he had to say. Probably about three quarters of us (myself included) hadn’t even read his book yet. The first thing he said was, “I’m sitting here and I don’t know what I’m going to talk about,” and then for the next two hours, he proceeded to speak so profoundly and eloquently that practically all of us were left rapt and speechless.

He may not have known what he was going to talk about, but She sure did.

From my book, under the chapter, Living as a Mystic… … Read more…

I learn so much from writing this book. For example, expectations are a lot like assumptions: They are unexamined until they are thrown in your face.

Writing the opening paragraphs to the Living As A Mystic chapter (sub-chapter?), revealed a simple truth:

It is the expectation of the Divine that defines a Mystic.

Here’s what I wrote today—what I realized today:  … Read more…

From my (limited) research, most spiritual book publishers aren’t interested in autobiographies (ie: “How I Awoke To Enlightenment”), but are more interested in the theory of enlightenment.

In the book I’m working on—though I don’t know how this will be received by the publishers—I’m providing both theory and real-world, autobiographical experiences. My intention is to demonstrate that I’m not just making this stuff up. That these Aspects are distinct phases I went though, and that each provides unique lessons from which anyone can learn a great deal.

With the exception of the Human tier, most of the Aspects are broken down into the following chapters: The Feel OfThe Properties OfThe Awakening OfLiving AsLessons Of; and Advice. While most of these chapters are theory, each Awakening Of and Living As chapter is mostly biography (how I awoke to the Aspect, and what it is like to live as this Aspect).

Here’s an example (standard first draft disclaimer (and still some clunky sections)): … Read more…

While I’ve been camping in various spots in the forests around Williams, I’ve been spending my mornings in Cafe 326 working on the book. I like working in coffeeshops, it keeps me in touch with Modern Society (though after streaming last night’s republican debate and thinking, Are these guys supposed to represent the BEST of America?, I’m not sure I want to be a part of Modern Society).

Anyway, here’s the opening of the chapter on the Mystic. Standard first-draft disclaimer and all…
