As I made my way back to Phoenix, as I sought to find a place Morrissette had told me about, as I thought about visiting my family next week, just then a tall dust devil appeared in front of me and I recognized how far from anything I was and I thought, “I’m the only person who sees you,” and She whispered:

Everything is temporary. Everything but us.

And as the whirling column faded away into nothing, I whispered back, “I see you… I see you everywhere.”

Sometimes She sings it to me. Sometimes I sing it to Her: I See You.

I guess in the end… it’s all the same.

And I Said, “Sure.”

She said, “It’s time to leave.”

And I said, “Sure.”

She said, “Turn here.”

And I said, “Sure.”

She said, “Now drive.”

And I said, “Sure.”

And I came across a Poet and he said, “I was just heading out for a walk. Would you care to walk with me?”

And I said, “Sure.” … Read more…

Plants Get The Best Views

As I drove into town to upload some videos, I noticed a woman by the side of the dirt, desert road holding a hoe.

As I pulled up beside her, I rolled down the window and asked, “Are you the one who put up all those little wire cages around the plants I see along this road?” … Read more…

Life is hard in the desert. Water is rare, and growth is slow. So every plant has thorns to protect their precious flesh.

I stood before a tall Saguaro cactus and wondered, “Has anyone ever touched you?” … Read more…

Advice For The Enlightened

Why Should It Change Now?

One of the greatest benefits of spiritual awakening is that life consistently “lines up.”

Read up on practically any spiritually enlightened person and somewhere in their narrative they will say something similar—that things just work out for them.

This happens so often in my life—I am so lucky—that I am literally surprised when things don’t work out. … Read more…

I’ve been in limbo for the last couple of weeks. Adrift and waiting for some sort of clarity are contrary to my core nature—my Inner Ego Aspect. I like projects and creating and a sense of direction and purpose.

But none of these are clear right now.

So I wait. … Read more…

Mystics: The Rebels Of Spirituality

COTTONWOOD, AZ

January 12, 2017 9:45 AM

Historically, mystics have always had rather short life expectancies. They tended to die young because they were constantly saying stupid things that pissed people off.

Stupid things that somehow made a lot of sense.

So traditionally, the established authorities liked to kill mystics off before they became too big of a problem. Burn ’em, stone ’em, or crucify ’em, I don’t care! Just get rid of them!

Today’s version of this “Kill the Mystic!” mentality is to troll them online. … Read more…

A Kinder, Gentler New Year

Less is More

Less is More

YUMA, AZ

January 1, 2017 00:01 AM

The less there is of you, the more there is of Love (and Kindness and Gentleness and Grace and …).

For the new year, maybe we should all focus on becoming less.

Let go of your fears and open.

Let go of your me-me-me worries and allow the Love to flow.

Let go of your self-concerns and act with kindness.

If you are going to resolve anything today, maybe you should keep it simple.

Maybe as simple as this:

Be less.

Happy New Year.

The Light And the Vastness

The Light And the Vastness

Enlightenment is when the personal and the impersonal unite. When they unite, all boundaries are seen through and we experience a profound sense of Vastness.

For many, this Vastness feels alive. It feels like the source of Everything. It feels vibrant, like some undefinable Potential, vibrating with an irrepressible inner expectation. … Read more…

The key to kindness isn’t Love. Love is a requirement for kindness, but it’s not the key.

The key to kindness is to be proactive.

As I was leaving a Starbucks this morning, I heard a slurring voice—a voice with pain and suffering in it—off to my left asking someone for some spare change. As I glanced over, the couple acted like they didn’t hear the poor woman and hurried away. … Read more…
