New Mexico Parks Pass

I signed up for the New Mexico parks pass today. $225 for a year’s worth of camping. I doubt I’ll stay in NM for the whole year, but after three weeks, the camping is basically free. Plus, if you sign up toward the first of the month (as I did today), you get 13 months instead of 12.

Showers, water, trash pickup, toilets, picnic tables, clean sites, … I feel like I’m staying in a resort.

I’m so easy to please.

Two weeks ago I purchased an annual camping pass for New Mexico state parks, but for the last couple of days I’ve been camped out alone on national forest land.

I find that solitude—particularly in nature—acts like a catalyst for inspiration. The stillness, the vastness, the peacefulness, … the energy—it stimulates the creative process. Through nature, Her whispers are more clearly heard and appreciated. Patterns arise and ideas clarify. … Read more…

After uploading yesterday’s post, I found myself climbing behind the wheel. This often happens. I just find myself leaving. I didn’t know where I was going. I thought, “Maybe I’m going to Santa Fe. Maybe that BLM land I know of north of there. Maybe Albuquerque for some big city life.”

I didn’t know where. I just knew I was going.

As I started Serenity up, Paul Simon sang out over the radio: … Read more…

I sat in the doorway of my van and stared out over the river. The contrast between the beauty of Nature and the divisiveness of the online world stuck me.

Why are so many people angry today? Why does it seem like everyone is attacking anyone whom they see as different?

The river burbled. The tall grass swayed. The clouds floated. Boundaries vanished and I expanded and disappeared and became One. Tao. Harmony. Peace.

And, from deep within the fog of my ancient memories, my Frog Master whispered:

Thoughts. Thoughts are Man’s blessing. Thoughts are Man’s curse.

A moose crossed the river.

Feeling blessed, feeling guided, feeling… confirmed, I raised my camera and took a photo of him.

And all the while, the river burbled contently.

I’ve started writing again.

One of the core premises of Being God: A User’s Manual is that we are all the same.

Like the photo above, though all the windows are reflecting different images, at their core, they are all just glass. … Read more…

Mystics and photographers share a common interest: the Light is everything to them.

The Light.

I sat in the doorway of my van and watched the Light gradually soften and fade. I felt the inevitable. … Read more…
